Inohana Park is a historic landmark located in Chuo-ku, Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture. Situated on the site of the former Inohana Castle, the area is celebrated as a "Cultural Forest" where historical remains and rich natural beauty coexist. The park serves as a vital cultural and recreational hub, housing the Chiba City Museum of Local History, the Chiba Prefectural Central Library, a cultural center, and the traditional tea house "Inohana-tei."
The land where the park stands was once the main enclosure of Inohana Castle. This area has been a celebrated scenic spot for centuries; in 1861, the view from Inohana Mountain was even selected as one of the "Eight Views of Chiba." Throughout the park, various monuments and historical markers allow visitors to feel a deep connection to the local heritage and the legacy of the region.
Visitors can explore a variety of facilities that offer deep insights into local history and culture. The Chiba City Museum of Local History, located halfway up the hill, and the elegant "Inohana-tei" (tea house and garden) are the most iconic landmarks of the area. The park is designed to be accessible, with ramps and paths suitable for various mobility needs. Multi-purpose restrooms are available on the first floor of the museum and near Inohana-tei. We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes for exploring the grounds. Please note that the park is a non-smoking area.
