Ikspiari is a large-scale commercial complex located within the Tokyo Disney Resort area in Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture. More than just a standard shopping mall, it is designed as a "city filled with stories and entertainment," creating a complete, immersive atmosphere. With approximately 140 shops, restaurants, and a state-of-the-art cinema complex, every visit offers new discoveries.
The name "Ikspiari" is a coined word combining "Experience" and "Peri" (a benevolent fairy from Persian mythology). This symbolizes the goal of providing visitors with a special experience that allows them to escape everyday life.
Opened on July 7, 2000, Ikspiari was born as part of the development plan for Tokyo Disney Resort. The design concept blends Eastern and Western influences, drawing inspiration from the charming, narrow alleys and unique storefronts found in places like Carmel, California. This design makes the act of walking through the complex an enjoyable experience in itself.
Managed by a group company of Oriental Land Co., Ltd. (the operator of Tokyo Disneyland), Ikspiari has established its own unique brand value independent of the Disney brand, serving as a cultural hub for both tourists and local residents at the gateway to the resort.
The most striking feature of Ikspiari is its layout, divided into nine distinct themed zones. The complex follows an "8-shaped" circulation path, allowing visitors to enjoy different scenery as they move through the areas.
For example, "Museum Lane" features alleys inspired by old Mediterranean port towns, while "The Courtyard" offers the atmosphere of a rustic, brick-lined market. "Theater Front," with its high ceilings and dramatic lighting, creates a cinematic Hollywood-style entrance to the movie theater. Exploring these diverse zones feels like wandering through various international cities.
Ikspiari is accessible from morning until late at night. During the day, the open areas like the Garden Site are perfect for a relaxing stroll under the sunlight. In the evening, the atmosphere transforms; the lighting in Theater Front and the illuminated alleyways create a beautiful, romantic scenery. We recommend enjoying a sophisticated dinner at a restaurant or catching a movie at the cinema after a day at the theme parks.
Beyond shopping, there are many ways to enjoy the local culture. You can dine at "Chef's Row," which features a variety of international cuisines, or shop at seasonal pop-up stores. You might even encounter street performers, such as mimes or singers, making the simple act of walking through the streets a form of entertainment. The cinema complex also offers a way to experience the latest global entertainment.
Ikspiari is located right next to Tokyo Disney Resort. It is easily accessible via walking or the Disney Resort Line monorail to reach Tokyo Disneyland or Tokyo DisneySea. Nearby accommodations, such as the Disney Ambassador Hotel, make it a very convenient base for your stay.
Because the complex is quite large, we highly recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes. The facility is designed with accessibility in mind, making it easy to navigate with strollers or wheelchairs. Most major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, etc.) and IC cards are accepted. While English signage and menus are available, you may need to ask staff for specific details. Some theaters or events may require advanced reservations.
