It was designated as a protected garden in 1974 under the Morioka City Ordinance for the Preservation of Natural and Historical Environments. This residence and garden were originally constructed in the late Meiji period by Hiroshi Abe, a prominent politician from Morioka. Today, the site is managed and preserved by the city to maintain the seamless integration of traditional architecture and natural landscapes.
The history of this site dates back to the late Meiiji era. Originally built by the politician Hiroshi Abe, the estate was later passed down to the Ichinokura family and preserved through generations. In response to local efforts to preserve the site's cultural value, the city of Morioka acquired the property in 1992.
