Futarasan Shrine, located in Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture, is a venerable shrine that serves as the cradle of Nikko worship. With a history dating back over 1,200 years, it was founded by the monk Dosho and enshrines Mount Nantai (the sacred mountain) as its primary deity. Historically, it has been revered as a central spiritual site in the region. Futarasan Shrine reveals a different face with every season. Please note that the reception hours vary by season: from April to October, the shrine is open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and from November to March, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Please be aware that the final entry is 30 minutes before the closing time.
