Honen-in is a Jodo sect temple located in the Shishigatani area of Sakyo-ku, Kyoto. It is most famous for its beautiful thatched-roof gate and the profound sense of tranquility found within its grounds. The temple offers a different face to visitors with every season: delicate cherry blossoms in spring, vibrant maple leaves in autumn, and breathtaking snow-covered landscapes in winter. The temple's history is deeply rooted in the teachings of Honen Shonin, the founder of the Jodo (Pure Land) sect.
