Hiromachi Park is a Minato City public park located directly adjacent to the sophisticated commercial complex, Tokyo Midtown. Spanning approximately 1.4 hectares, this urban oasis offers a refreshing landscape of lush greenery and water, providing a much-needed respite from the bustling city. The site holds deep historical roots; it was once the location of a famous garden known as 'Shimizu-en' during the Edo period. Today, the traditional stroll-style garden and large pond harmonize beautifully with the modern skyline, creating a unique space where nature and urban life coexist.
The history of this area dates back to the Edo period, when it served as the residence for the Mori family of the Hagi Domain. The garden, known as 'Shimizu-en,' was a renowned site offering views of the Edo cityscape. The area was also called 'Hinoki-yashiki' due to the abundance of Japanese cypress (Hinoki) trees, which is the origin of the current place name, 'Hiromachi.' After passing through the Meiji era as a military site and later being used by the US military and the Defense Agency, the area was revitaliously developed alongside the creation of Tokyo Midtown in 2007. This redesign preserved the essence of the traditional garden while evolving it into an open, modern space for city dwellers.

The centerpiece of the park is the large pond, which occupies nearly half of the grounds. The stroll-style layout around the water allows visitors to experience the classic aesthetics of a Japanese garden. For those looking to relax, an 'Azumaya' (traditional gazebo) is available, perfect for resting while gazing at the water. The park is also incredibly family-friendly, featuring a unique playground area with equipment named after natural elements: 'SANJIN Yamano Kamigami' (Slide), 'FUJIN Kaze no Kamigami' (Swing), and 'KAIJIN Umi no Kamigami' (Play Gym). These features make it an ideal spot for families to enjoy the outdoors.
Hiromachi Park reveals different charms throughout the seasons. The deep greenery surrounding the pond and the way the sky reflects on the water's surface offer a tranquil atmosphere that helps you forget the city's noise. While the park is most beautiful during bright daylight hours when the sun reflects off the pond, please note that the park may implement self-restraint measures at night, such as placing chains across the entrance. We recommend visiting during the day for a refreshing stroll between shopping or dining at Tokyo Midtown.

Visitors can enjoy a leisurely walk through nature, experiencing the meditative rhythm of a Japanese stroll-style garden. The path around the pond offers a precious moment to connect with the water and greenery. For children, the playground provides a great space for physical activity. Whether you are walking through the greenery or relaxing on the grass, the park serves as a vital space for relaxation in the heart of Tokyo.
The park is situated right next to the world-class commercial complex, Tokyo Midtown. This area is home to high-end boutiques, gourmet restaurants, and art galleries, allowing you to transition seamlessly from a peaceful nature walk to a sophisticated urban experience. Located near the international hubs of Roppongi and Akasaka, the area is highly accessible and serves as an excellent base for sightseeing.
While the park is an open public space, please follow local etiquette. There is no entrance fee and no reservation is required.
