Hinjitsukan is a historic architectural masterpiece located in Futami, Ise City, Mie Prefecture. Completed in 1887 (Meiji 20), it was originally built as a lodging and resting facility for high-ranking guests (VIPs) visiting the sacred Ise Jingu Grand Shrine. Today, it is designated as a National Important Cultural Property and serves as a precious museum that preserves the elegant culture and sophisticated traditional Japanese architectural styles of the Meiji era, continuing to captivate visitors with its timeless beauty.
The building has a dramatic history, having been constructed with an extremely short construction period to coincide with the visit of the Empress Dowager Eisho to Ise. Since 1911, it has played a significant role in the pilgrimage to Ise Jingu, even serving as an annex to the adjacent Futamikan. In 2010, the main building, the grand hall, and the storehouse were officially designated as National Important Cultural Properties.
