Peace Park was established in 1955 to honor those who lost their lives in the 1945 atomic bombing and to express a profound wish for eternal world peace. Located in the Matsuyama-cho area of Nagasaki, the vast grounds house significant monuments such as the Peace Statue and the Fountain of Peace. The park was developed to serve as a site for mourning the victims of the atomic bomb and promoting permanent global peace. Specifically, August 9th is designated as 'Nagasaki Peace Day.' On this day, the Peace Memorial Ceremony is held in front of the Peace Statue, where a Peace Declaration is read to the world, broadcasting a message of hope and peace to the global community. As a site that symbolizes the history of Nagasaki, it attracts many visitors from both Japan and abroad.
