Hamanako Garden Park is a vast prefectural park spanning 56 hectares, located on a beautiful peninsula jutting into Lake Hamana in Chuo-ku, Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Opened in its current form in 2005, the park features diverse areas designed for visitors of all ages. The park is divided into three distinct zones—West, Town, and Sato—each offering a unique experience. Known as a "lakeside oasis," it is a beloved destination for strolls, picnics, and family leisure amidst a rich natural environment.
The park has a unique history, having been developed as the site for the "Hamana-ko Flower Expo" held in 2004. Many of the facilities and designs still reflect the spirit of that era; for instance, you can find stone statues of "Notane," a character from the expo, throughout the grounds. The "Sato" area, which includes the Flower Museum, carries this historical legacy while providing visitors with breathtaking, high-quality botanical landscapes.
The symbol of the park is the 54m-tall Observation Tower (with a 44m viewing deck). From here, you can enjoy a magnificent panorama of Lake Hamana and, on clear days, a stunning view of Mt.
