Hamaoka Flower Park is a premier botanical theme park located on the scenic shores of Lake Hamana in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture. Designed to showcase the natural beauty of the region, the vast park offers a diverse collection of stunning flora that changes with every season. One of its most famous features is the world-class cherry blossom and tulip garden, where the sight of pink and white cherry blossoms dancing alongside vibrant tulips creates a truly magical spring landscape. Visitors can also explore a massive glass greenhouse filled with diverse plant life, ride the charming Flower Train through the grounds, or enjoy the rhythmic beauty of the musical fountain shows.
The park was developed to celebrate and preserve the rich natural environment surrounding Lake Hamana. More than just a botanical garden, it operates as a dynamic "flower theme park" that hosts seasonal exhibitions, ensuring that every visit offers a fresh and unique experience. The park beautifully blends the Japanese cultural appreciation for the changing seasons with an international botanical focus, making it a beloved landmark for both locals and international travelers.

There is always something spectacular to see depending on when you visit. Spring brings the iconic cherry blossoms and tulips, while early summer features elegant wisteria and roses. Summer highlights tropical plants and vibrant lilies, and autumn offers a peaceful display of seasonal blooms. The large greenhouse is a must-visit, allowing you to admire exotic plants regardless of the weather. For those who prefer a relaxing pace, the Flower Train provides a scenic way to tour the expansive grounds without extensive walking. The musical fountain shows also add a delightful layer of entertainment to your visit.
To see the most spectacular displays, plan your trip around the seasonal blooms. The period from March to June is particularly popular, as you can witness the transition from spring cherry blossoms to early summer wisteria and roses. In summer, the park transforms with lush tropical greenery, while autumn brings a different palette of seasonal colors. Some special events, such as the Christmas season, may feature night illuminations, allowing you to experience the enchanted gardens under a starlit sky. We recommend checking the seasonal schedule to align your visit with specific floral exhibitions.

Beyond simple sightseeing, the park offers immersive experiences. You can wander through themed seasonal displays to witness the peak beauty of specific plant species. The Flower Train is a wonderful way to navigate the large grounds efficiently while soaking in the views, making it a hit for families and those looking for a leisurely stroll. For photography enthusiasts, the park serves as a perfect studio, offering endless opportunities to capture the vivid colors and textures of nature.
Located right next to Hamaoka Flower Park is the Hamamatsu City Zoo. A popular itinerary for families is to spend the morning enjoying the flowers and the afternoon at the zoo. If you plan to visit both, we recommend setting aside at least two hours for the Flower Park alone to ensure you have enough time to enjoy both locations. Please note that if you are looking to purchase combo tickets for both the park and the zoo, these are typically sold until 14:30.

Because the park is quite large, we highly recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes. Depending on the season, you may also want to bring a hat for sun protection. Please be aware that picking plants or any form of animal capture is strictly prohibited. Pets are not allowed inside the park, and the entire premises is a non-smoking area. If you choose to purchase E-tickets in advance, credit card payments are accepted. Wheelchairs and senior cars are available for rent on a first-come, first-served basis.
