Guide
Fukushima Teppen Park is located in the Fukushima district of Toyoka Village, Shimoina District, Nagano Prefecture. The park features a high-altitude observation deck that offers a sweeping 360-degree panorama of the Ina Valley mountains and the surrounding cityscape. The landscape was intentionally designed by clearing surrounding trees to create an unobstructed, open space that maximizes the view. On clear days, the visibility is exceptional, allowing you to see distant mountain ranges in stunning detail.
This park was developed based on local community planning to preserve and showcase the beautiful regional landscape. While the area was once densely forested, the landscape was carefully managed to ensure wide-open vistas. Today, it is celebrated as a scenic spot known as the 'Hill where you can see the scenery of Shinshu,' serving as a cherished place for both locals and visitors to enjoy the timeless beauty of the Japanese countryside.

The centerpiece of the park is the 360-degree observation deck and terrace. The elevated vantage point provides a dynamic perspective of the local topography. A unique highlight is the 'Flying Broom' installation; visitors can use this setup to take playful, action-oriented photos that make it look as though you are flying through the air. The park also features walking paths and grassy slopes designed to embrace the natural terrain, making it a delightful space for leisure.
You can enjoy a completely different landscape in every season. In spring and summer, the mountains are covered in lush greenery, while winter offers a serene, white snowy landscape. On clear nights, you may even be able to see the twinkling lights of the Iida area. For the best experience, we recommend visiting on a clear, sunny day with stable weather to enjoy the widest possible view.
Beyond sightseeing, visitors can relax in the provided gazebos (rest areas) to enjoy the mountain air. The park is well-suited for a light stroll along the walking paths or enjoying the grassy slopes. Depending on the season, the area may host local events such as lantern festivals or seasonal illuminations. It is an ideal spot to spend a slow, peaceful time feeling the breeze on the high plateau.
The park is situated in the Fukushima district of Toyoka Village. The surrounding area is characterized by beautiful 'Satoyama' (traditional rural landscape) scenery, making it a popular destination for driving tours and motorcycle riding. The most common access route is via the Prefectural Road 18 (Inasana Iida Line).
Because the park is located on a high plateau, it is highly susceptible to sudden weather changes and strong winds. Please bring clothing appropriate for the season and prepare for wind.
