The Fukuoka Art Museum is a cultural landmark situated within the beautiful Ohori Park in the heart of Fukuoka City. The building itself, designed by the renowned architect Kunio Maekawa, is a masterpiece of modern architecture that harmonizes perfectly with the surrounding water and greenery. Following a major renewal in 2019, the museum now offers an even more sophisticated and contemporary exhibition environment. The museum was established to promote the cultural development of Fukuoka. The museum is generally open from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM. However, please note that operating hours vary by season and day. From July to October, the museum extends its hours until 8:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, making it an ideal time for a relaxing evening visit. For those visiting during the pleasant spring or autumn seasons, a daytime visit is highly recommended to enjoy the bright light and the beautiful scenery of Ohori Park.
The museum is a family-friendly destination, featuring a dedicated kids' space called "Mori no Tane" (Forest Seeds) designed by artist Kanae Ogi. This area features various objects inspired by paintings and sculptures, allowing children to engage with art in a playful environment. Additionally, the facility includes a museum shop, a cafe, and a restaurant, allowing visitors to relax and unwind after exploring the galleries.

Please follow these rules while viewing the exhibitions: Writing instruments in the exhibition rooms are strictly limited to pencils only. Please set your smartphone or mobile phone to silent mode and refrain from making calls. For your convenience, coin-operated lockers are available on the 1st floor next to the museum shop and in the 2nd-floor lobby. Umbrellas and parasols should be placed in the umbrella stands at the entrances. Please do not touch any of the artworks or display cases. Additionally, photography rules vary by exhibition room; please always check the posted signs before taking photos.
