Fukuchiyama Castle is a historic fortress located in Fukuchiyama City, Kyoto Prefecture. Founded by the legendary daimyo Akechi Mitsuhide, the castle offers a deep connection to Japan's feudal history. From the Tenshukaku (castle keep), you can enjoy a sweeping view of the surrounding castle town. Inside the keep, various exhibits, including historical documents and video presentations regarding Akechi Mitsuhide and successive lords, allow visitors to immerse themselves in the local history. The surrounding area is also rich with various historical remains.

Fukuchiyama Castle reveals different charms depending on the time of day. The Tenshukaku is open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (last entry at 4:30 PM), making it ideal for daytime sightseeing. At night, the castle is beautifully illuminated from sunset until 10:00 PM, creating a magical and much different atmosphere than the daytime.
Visitors can enjoy studying historical exhibits inside the Tenshukaku to learn about castle architecture. You can also purchase a 'Goshuin' (specifically a 'Gojo-in' or castle stamp) at the reception as a unique souvenir of your visit. Additionally, the castle is a stop for the Japan 100 Famous Castles stamp rally, perfect for collectors.
