Fukidashi Park is located at the foot of Mt. Yotei, one of Hokkaido's most iconic mountains. Rain and snow falling on Mt. Yotei are filtered through the earth over many years, emerging as mineral-rich spring water. This site has been officially selected as one of Japan's '100 Best Waters' by the Ministry of the Environment. An incredible 80,000 tons of water gush out every single day. The park features well-maintained walking paths and observation decks, allowing visitors to feel the raw energy of nature up close.
This area has long been known as a 'village of famous waters.' Benefiting from the high altitude of Mt. Yotei, the spring water has been a vital resource for local communities and visitors alike, supporting both daily life and local culture. The abundant water supply has also contributed to the development of local agriculture and food culture, representing a beautiful history of coexistence between humans and nature.
The greatest charm of the park is the sight of the powerful, constant flow of crystal-clear water. There are specific areas where you can observe the water bubbling up from the ground, showcasing the beautiful formations of nature. Additionally, from the observation decks, you can enjoy the breathtaking contrast between the sparkling water and the majestic silhouette of Mt. Yotei standing in the background.
Because the water temperature and volume remain consistent throughout the year, the park offers a different charm in every season. As the park itself is open 24 hours a day, you can experience different atmospheres depending on when you visit, such as the quietude of early morning or the tranquility of dusk.
Around the park, you can enjoy a food culture centered around this famous spring water. You will find various eateries serving coffee made with the pure water, as well as local delicacies like Genghis Khan (grilled mutton) and croquettes. Tasting local flavors while feeling the purity of the spring water is a unique experience. There are also playground facilities available (from May until the first snowfall), making it a great destination for families.
