Fuki-ji is a historic Buddhist temple located in Bungo-Takada City, Oita Prefecture. Its most significant feature is the Fuki-ji Daido, a designated National Treasure. Perched on a hill reached by steep stone steps, the hall features a traditional tiled roof and serves as a rare, surviving example of the Japanese-style (Wayō) architecture from the Heian period.
The Fuki-ji Daido is notable for its unique architectural details, such as the 'Gyoki-style' tiling. The structure also holds immense historical value; for instance, the name of the monk Yūzen, who was involved in the 1353 renovation, is documented in the Fuki-ji Itabi stone inscription.
