Zuiho-in is a sub-temple of the Daitoku-ji school of the Rinzai sect, located within the Daitoku-ji temple complex in Kita-ku, Kyoto. Its mountain name is Ryubo-zan. The temple's central deity is Kannon Bosatsu, and the grounds are dotted with significant historical buildings and exquisite gardens. Founded by the famous Christian daimyo Otomo Yoshihiro, the temple serves as a unique site where religious history and artistic value coexist beautifully.

The history of Zuiho-in dates back to the Tenbun era (around 1533–1546). It was founded by the Christian daimyo of Bungo Province, Otomo Yoshihiro, who invited the master monk Tetsuju Soku to establish the temple. The name 'Zuiho-in' is derived from the posthumous name of Yoshihiro, 'Zuiho-in-dono Zuiho Shorin Koji.' This connection provides a fascinating historical link to the history of Christianity in Japan.
