Dafukuko-ji is a temple of the Shingon Buddhism Shichi-no-miya school, located in Kyotamba, Funai District, Kyoto Prefecture. The temple enshrines Bishamonten, the deity of fortune and protection. The temple grounds are home to several significant treasures, including the main hall and Tahoto pagoda, both designated as Important Cultural Properties. Additionally, the temple preserves precious historical documents such as the Hojoki and the Gyumpen (Volume 24 fragments).
According to temple legend, the temple was founded during the Enryaku era (782–806) by Enjo, a key figure in the revival of Kurama-dera. Originally located in the mountains of Kitakata, the temple was moved to its current location in 1327 by the famous general Ashikaga Takauji.
