The geological layers here were formed between approximately 3 million and 400,000 years ago through the accumulation of sediments such as the Myose and Iioka layers in a marine environment. This area, which was once the seabed, rose above sea level, and the subsequent layering of the Kanto Loam (red volcanic soil) created the unique landscape seen today. The history of this place is a cycle of nature; the sediment eroded from these cliffs has gradually transformed into the sands of the Kujukuri Beach over countless millennia. As a site of immense geological value, Byobugaura is carefully preserved as a cultural heritage site.
