Bandai-ji Temple (Abuto Kannon) is a historic temple situated on a steep cliff overlooking the Seto Inland Sea at the tip of the Numakuma Peninsula in Fukuyama, Hiroshima. The vibrant vermilion pillars and beams create a breathtaking contrast against the deep blue sky and sea, a sight that has captivated travelers for centuries. The greatest draw is the vermilion Kannon Hall standing precariously on the cliffside. The corridor, which extends toward the sea, is designed to make visitors feel as though they are walking on water. Because the railings are kept low, the view is unobstructed, allowing for a seamless, panoramic experience of the Seto Inland Sea.
