Baba no Yama Sakura is a designated natural monument located in Takeo Town, Takeo City, Saga Prefecture. The tree is estimated to be approximately 120 years old, exuding a powerful presence that symbolizes the vitality of nature. It stands about 12 meters tall, with a massive canopy spreading roughly 18 meters east-to-west and 13 meters north-to-south. The trunk circumference ranges from approximately 2.1 to 3.8 meters. Unlike the common Somei-yoshino variety, this mountain cherry (Yama-zakura) offers a unique, rustic charm. As spring arrives, the swelling pale pink buds bloom into whitish-pink flowers, creating a captivating spectacle for all who visit.
