Mount Aso Nakadake Crater is the central volcano of Mount Aso, located in Aso District, Kumamoto Prefecture. Situated within the Aso Caldera—one of the largest in the world—it is renowned for its continuous volcanic activity. Standing at an elevation of 1,506 meters, Nakadake is one of the five peaks of Aso. There are many fascinating spots near the Nakadake Crater. To the southeast lies Sunasenri-ga-hama, a known ancient crater area. Additionally, the Daikanbo lookout point to the northeast provides a panoramic view of the Aso Valley, making it the perfect spot to understand the massive scale of the Aso topography.
