Opened in July 1982, The Art Museum of Hokkaido, Asahikawa, serves as a vital cultural center for the northern part of Hokkaido. The museum focuses on the research, collection, and exhibition of "wood craftsmanship," inspired by the abundant forest resources of the Asahikawa region. Its collection includes exceptional wood carvings, woodcrafts, and furniture from both Japan and overseas. Visitors can enjoy high-quality artworks within a modern architectural design that harmonizes with nature, surrounded by expansive, open lawns.

The museum features two primary exhibition areas. The museum offers various programs and exhibitions that change with the seasons. Since it is located within a lush, natural park, you can enjoy the changing scenery alongside the art. Please note that the final entry to the exhibition rooms is at 16:30 (30 minutes before closing). It is recommended to arrive with plenty of time to explore. On certain commemorative days, there may be special admission-free policies.
