Arita Porcelain Park, located in Arita Town, Ariake District, Saga Prefecture, is a unique cultural destination dedicated to the art of Arita porcelain. The park's centerpiece is the magnificent recreation of the 'Zwinger Palace,' a structure that faithfully reproduces early 18th-century German Baroque architecture. The grounds are adorned with expansive Baroque gardens, where visitors can immerse themselves in a space that evokes the grandeur of historic European estate styles, beautifully complemented by seasonal flora.
Since the 17th century, Oriental ceramics such as Arita porcelain were highly prized by European royalty and nobility, often considered as valuable as gold or precious gemstones. The architecture of this facility is modeled after the historic German Zwinger Palace, built in the early 18th century. The park serves as a bridge between East and West, showcasing the peak of Arita porcelain production from the Edo to the Meiji eras alongside the cultural heritage of the region.
The exterior of the Zwinger Palace is a breathtaking sight and a perfect subject for photography and strolls. As the main attraction involves walking through expansive gardens and around grand structures, we highly recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes.
