Ama no Manai is located in Yodo-cho, Yonago City, Tottori Prefecture, and is honored as one of the '100 Best Waters' designated by the Ministry of the Environment. Nestled at the foot of the majestic Mt. Daisen, the site produces a massive 2,500 tons of pure spring water daily. This pristine water has historically played a vital role in local life, supporting agriculture, daily household use, and even trout farming.
In 1990, the area was developed to enhance its natural beauty, adding features such as a traditional thatched-roof watermill, rest houses (azumaya), well-maintained walking paths, and parking areas. The landscape offers a harmonious blend of flowing clear streams and lush greenery.
The region has long been sustained by the abundant water resources provided by Mt. Daisen. The spring water is more than just a natural phenomenon; it is a precious resource deeply connected to the local community. The water used in Yonago City is sourced from 85 meters underground and is famously known as 'Yonago Water,' selected by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's 'Delicious Water Research Group.' Historically, these abundant springs have served as the foundation for both local life and industry.
The most striking feature of Ama no Manai is the sight of the endless, crystal-clear spring water. As you walk along the maintained trails, you can observe the natural spring and the surrounding greenery up close.
