Located in Shinko, Naka Ward, Yokohama, the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse is a premier cultural and commercial complex. Originally constructed by the Meiji government as customs warehouses for the Yokohama port, these structures have been beautifully repurposed. Today, they serve as a bustling venue for shopping, fine dining, and a wide variety of seasonal events. The sight of the iconic red-brick architecture makes this one of the most recognizable landmarks in the Yokohama Minato Mirai 21 district.
The complex consists of two main buildings: Warehouse No. 2, completed in 1911 (Meiji 44), and Warehouse No. 1, completed in 1913 (Taisho 2). Having served as essential customs warehouses for the port for decades, they ceased their original function in 1989. In 2002, the site was revitalized into the modern commercial and cultural facility seen today. The site is recognized as a 'Modernization Industrial Heritage' site by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Furthermore, Warehouse No. 2 is designated as a 'Yokohama City Certified Historical Building' and is included in the '100 Selected Buildings of Kanagawa,' underscoring its immense architectural value as a symbol of Japan's modernization.
The facility is divided into two distinct sections: Warehouse No. 1 and Warehouse No. 2. Warehouse No. 1 primarily functions as a cultural space, hosting various exhibitions, galleries, and large-scale events. In contrast, Warehouse No. 2 is a lively commercial zone featuring various boutiques, restaurants, and bars, perfect for a day of shopping. Outside, the beautifully maintained 'Red Brick Park' offers an open, breezy atmosphere where visitors can relax by the waterfront.
Various events are held throughout the year, including special summer festivals. As evening approaches, the red-brick buildings are beautifully illuminated, creating a romantic atmosphere that makes this a top destination for night views and dates. Please note that operating hours differ between Warehouse No. 1 and No. 2; it is highly recommended to check the closing times of specific shops or venues if you plan to visit in the evening.

Since the facility covers a large area, we recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes. Regarding payment, most shops accept credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, etc.) and transportation IC cards, but it is wise to carry some cash for smaller stalls or specific event booths.
