Ajisai Park is a vast, beautiful park spanning approximately 6.9 hectares in Miyakonojo City, Miyazaki Prefecture. True to its name, the park is famous for its breathtaking display of hydrangeas; roughly 28,000 blooms across 84 different varieties cover the hillsides, creating a colorful tapestry that is a staple of early summer. The most spectacular viewing period is from early to mid-June. Beyond being a botanical destination, the park is a scenic area that blends natural beauty with history, featuring the ruins of the historic Matsuo Castle.
The park encompasses the site of the former Matsuo Castle. At the top of the hill, a 15-meter-tall observation tower designed in the shape of a castle structure serves as a landmark, offering a sense of historical depth.
