ACAO FOREST is a premier resort-style botanical garden located in Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Originally opened in 1988 as "Soga Forest Natural Park," it evolved through several names, including "Akao Herb & Rose Garden," before becoming the current "ACAO FOREST." The garden is highly acclaimed, having received the "Excellent Garden Award" from the World Rose Convention. Visitors can wander through lush landscapes filled with various herbs and roses while enjoying a breathtaking panoramic view of the Sagami Bay ocean.
The facility has a rich history of evolution. It began in 1988 as the Soga Forest Natural Park. In 1994, the herb gardens were developed, followed by the opening of the Atami Herb & Rose Garden and the Old Rose Garden in 1997. In 2002, the name changed to Akao Herb & Rose Garden. A significant milestone occurred in 2015 when the garden received the Excellent Garden Award from the World Rose Convention. Finally, in November 2021, following a corporate rebranding, the facility was renamed to its current name, ACAO FOREST.

The park features several distinct gardens, most notably the rose garden, which is internationally recognized for its beauty. Another major highlight is "COEDA HOUSE," a stylish facility that opened in 2017, allowing guests to enjoy the stunning scenery while relaxing. The garden offers a different atmosphere depending on the season through various themed events. From January to March, enjoy the "Atami Cherry Blossom and Nanohana Festival." From April to June, the "ACAO ROSE FESTA" celebrates the blooming roses. Summer (July–August) features "ACAO FOREST SUMMER," autumn (September–October) brings "ACAO FOREST HALLOWEEN," and the year concludes with "ACAO FOREST CHRISTMAS" from November to December.
Each season offers a unique experience at ACAO FOREST. In early spring (January–March), the focus is on the Atami Cherry Blossom and Nanohana Festival. The peak season for roses and herbs is spring (April–June) during the ACAO ROSE FESTA. Summer (July–August) provides a refreshing resort atmosphere, while autumn (September–October) offers a festive Halloween theme. Winter (November–December) transforms the garden into a beautiful Christmas-themed landscape. Be sure to plan your visit according to the season to see the best blooms.

Visitors can enjoy walking through diverse botanical landscapes centered around roses and herbs. Near the parking area, you will find "ACAO ROSE SQUARE," which serves as a convenient shop and restaurant area. Whether you are looking for a peaceful stroll or a stylish cafe experience, the park provides a perfect resort environment.
ACAO FOREST is located near National Route 135 in Atami City. The area is home to several high-end resort facilities, such as ACAO SPA & RESORT (formerly Hotel New Akao). Nearby, you can also visit the historic Soga Shrine, making it a perfect area for a full day of sightseeing.

As the garden contains various paths and some uneven terrain, we highly recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes. Regarding payments, please check on-site if the shops and restaurants accept credit cards or only cash. While many signs are available, please confirm the availability of English-language support locally. Generally, no advanced reservation is required for standard entry, though specific seasonal events may have different rules.
