The "Yoshino River Festival Summer Fireworks Display" held in Gojo, Nara, is a beloved local tradition and a major summer event. The main draw is the overwhelming synchronization of music, lasers, and fireworks. The atmosphere is electric, much like a live concert, as star mines and specialized fireworks light up the sky. Before the main fireworks begin, around 19:00, the "Toro Nagashi" (floating lantern ceremony) takes place. Seeing roughly 20,000 lanterns gently drifting down the Yoshino River creates a serene, magical landscape that is deeply moving. You can also enjoy the historic atmosphere of the Gojo Shinmachi district and sample delicious food from about 100 local festival stalls.

The venue is the Yoshino River riverside (upstream of Okawa Bridge).

• *By Train**: Approximately a 10-minute walk from JR Gojo Station. This is the most convenient way to reach the venue.
• *By Car**: About 25 minutes from the Katsuragi IC via Route 24, or 5 minutes from the Gojo IC via the Kyo-Nara Expressway. While free parking is available near Gojo Elementary School, Gojo City Hall, and Gojo Hospital, these lots are expected to be full by 16:00. We highly recommend arriving early or using public transport.

Practical Tips for Visitors

The riverside area is often unpaved and may have uneven terrain or stones. We strongly recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes (like sneakers) rather than heels. If you wish to watch from a more comfortable vantage point, paid reserved seating is available (advance tickets required). For those wishing to send a message via fireworks, a specific application process via return postcard is required during the designated period.
