Yasaka Jinja Bugaku Hono is a special ritual at Yasaka Jinja, a historic shrine in Kyoto, where traditional Gagaku (ancient court music) and dance are offered to the deities. The origins of this ceremony date back to 975, originally performed to pray for the recovery of Emperor En'yu. Although the tradition faced interruptions throughout history, it was restored in 1865 by Emperor Komei. Today, the ritual is carefully preserved as a sacred ceremony, led by the Yasaka Gagaku Society.

The highlight of this event is the breathtaking performance of traditional dance set against the backdrop of a large drum (Odaiko) located to the south of the dance stage. The program typically begins with the 'Enbaku' (purification dance) and concludes with the 'Chokeishi,' a performance consisting only of music.
