"Tokushima Awa Odori THE AWAODORI" is a massive festival held primarily in Tokushima City, serving as the iconic symbol of summer in Tokushima. Known for the phrase, "It is a fool who dances and a fool who watches; if both are fools, you might as well dance!", the entire city is swept up in a feverish rhythm. The dynamic performances by numerous dancers never fail to captvise visitors.
The greatest charm of this festival is the diverse range of performances held throughout the city. At the main dance stages (Enbu-jo), you can witness highly skilled, powerful dances. For a more casual experience, you can feel the heat of the festival up close at free viewing areas or the "Odori Hiroba" (Dance Plazas). The sound of traditional music echoing through the night streets and the sight of dancers in colorful costumes is truly breathtaking. It is an incredibly energetic space where the audience and performers become one.
The festival takes place for 5 days from August 11 (Tue) to August 15 (Sat), 2026. Please note that stages and locations vary depending on the date.

Awa Odori is an event meant to be felt through its atmosphere. For a more comfortable and close-up view, consider the paid viewing areas where you can sit and watch the performances. For a more spontaneous experience, the free areas and plazas allow you to soak in the excitement freely. As crowds are expected to be very heavy, we recommend arriving early to find a viewing style that suits you.
As this is a summer night event, lightweight and breathable clothing is recommended. To stay comfortable in the heat, please bring beverages for hydration.
