The Take-Akri Exhibition is a special nighttime event held at Keunkan in Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture. This event features a breathtaking landscape where the warm glow of bamboo lanterns (Take-Akari) meets a mystical sea of clouds and a display of plum tree bonsai within the historic Keunkan grounds.
The main attractions are the bamboo lanterns, the sea of clouds, and the plum bonsai exhibition. The bamboo lanterns provide a soft, atmospheric lighting throughout the Keunkan area. In the garden, an artificial sea of clouds is created, offering a dreamlike view of floating through the mist (Note: The sea of clouds may not be visible depending on weather conditions). This unique nighttime scenery offers a completely different atmosphere compared to the daytime.
The event is scheduled to run from September 16, 2026, to October 18, 2026. Based on previous years, entry may be divided into two sessions (e.g., 17:30 or 19:00) with a one-hour rotation. Please check the official website for the most up-to-date schedule and specific entry times.
The venue is Keunkan, located in Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture. Access to the venue is available via public transportation or car. Please check local transportation information for Nagahama before your trip.
This event involves walking through both indoor and outdoor areas at night. To fully enjoy the sea of clouds and the lantern paths, please prepare for nighttime conditions. Please note that the sea of clouds effect may not be visible depending on the weather. We also recommend dressing for the evening temperature.
Please verify in advance whether you can pay by credit card or if cash is required. Depending on the specific setup, cash may be necessary.
English-language support or signage availability is currently unconfirmed. It is recommended to check the official website or contact the facility directly for details.
Advance reservations may be required for this event. If the event uses a timed entry system (such as the 17:30 or 19:00 sessions), please complete your booking through the official reservation system.
As the event includes outdoor viewing at night, please bring clothing suitable for temperature changes. We highly recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes, as the paths may be dark. Bringing seasonal warm clothing is also advised.
