Guide
Namba Parks is a massive lifestyle complex in the Namba area of Osaka that seamlessly blends a modern shopping center with a lush urban park. Built on the site of the former Osaka Baseball Stadium, the architecture, designed by Jon Jerde, is inspired by a grand canyon. The entire facility follows a theme of "coexistence with nature," featuring a unique terraced structure that rises from the ground to the rooftop.
The true highlight of Namba Parks is the "Parks Garden," which spans from the 3rd to the 9th floors. This rooftop oasis, home to approximately 300 plant species and 70,000 plants, feels like a natural sanctuary in the heart of the city. The architectural design is equally impressive, having been recognized by CNN as one of the "Top 10 Most Beautiful Sky Gardens in the World."
As you stroll through the "Canyon Street" on the 2nd floor, look for the commemorative plates marking the former home base and pitcher's plate of the old Osaka Baseball Stadium, adding a touch of history to your walk. Whether you are here for high-end shopping, a movie, gourmet dining, or a peaceful nature walk, Namba Parks offers a truly unique urban experience.
As Namba Parks is a permanent commercial complex, there is no specific event schedule. Access depends on the operating hours of individual shops, restaurants, and the cinema. The rooftop garden changes beautifully with the seasons, so you can enjoy a different side of nature depending on when you visit.
Namba Parks is conveniently connected to several major train lines, making it very easy to reach.
The facility is quite vast, and because the rooftop garden (Parks Garden) features many levels and slopes, we highly recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes. Beyond shopping, you can enjoy a full day of leisure with movies, cafe breaks, and easy connections to the adjacent Namba CITY and Swissôtel Nankai Osaka.
Since you will likely spend time walking through the outdoor gardens, casual and comfortable clothing is best. Regarding payments, while most major retailers and restaurants accept credit cards and electronic money, please check with individual shops for their specific policies.
