The Toi Konpirā Matsuri is a traditional annual event held on December 10th at Yasui Konpiragu, located in the Higashiyama district of Kyoto. This festival marks the final 'Konpirā-sama' day of the year. It serves as a significant spiritual milestone to sever bad connections from the past year and prepare your heart and soul for a fresh start in the coming year.
The highlight of this festival is the 'Ineborai,' a sacred charm available only during this season. This exquisite decoration features stalks of rice, symbolizing abundance, and carries the meaning of 'calling in wealth and fortune.' It is a rare opportunity to experience a deep-rooted Kyoto tradition for a prosperous and healthy new year. Additionally, you can visit the famous 'Enkiri-Enmusubi' stone way to perform a ritual of cutting bad ties and strengthening good ones to reset your spiritual path.

During the Toi Konpirā Matsuri, the 'Ineborai' charms are available at the shrine's reception. As these are highly sought-after items and quantities are limited, we recommend arriving early if you wish to secure one. This festival is a beautiful way to conclude your year by letting go of negativity and welcoming the new year with a clear mind.
First, offer your prayers at the main shrine (Honden) to express gratitude. Afterward, visit the famous 'Enkiri-Enmusubi' stone monument to perform your ritual using a 'Katashiro' (paper charm). You can find the Katashiro on the pedestal to the left of the stone; please offer a small donation of at least 100 JPY into the offering box before receiving it.
The shrine office accepts requests for charms and the 'Ineborai' from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Please note that if you require charms to be mailed to you, specific procedures via postcard or mail may be required. Please check the official website for specific details.
