Legend tells of a young woman named Oyoshi, whose spirit was said to be connected to the fire that struck the castle. To honor her memory, this ritual was established. Today, the festival is widely known as a time to pray for good fortune in love and marriage, attracting many women to participate in its graceful and evocative dances.
