Event Overview

Oyada Shrine Momiji Valley is a historic site located in Mino City, Gifu Prefecture. It is home to a stunning forest of mountain maple trees designated as a National Natural Monument. In autumn, approximately 3,000 trees transform the landscape into a vibrant, deep crimson. This breathtaking scenery is celebrated as one of the 'Hida/Mino 33 Best Autumn Foliage Spots.'

The main draw is the overwhelming density of the autumn colors, featuring ancient trees over 1,000 years old. As you stroll through the shrine grounds, you can immerse yourself in the deep red scenery and enjoy seasonal treats. During the peak season, you can enjoy 'Gohei-mochi' (grilled rice cakes) prepared by the local women's association. Additionally, the shrine office offers special seasonal Goshuin (temple stamps) crafted using the traditional techniques of 'Mino Washi' paper, a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The peak viewing season is typically from mid to late November. The shrine office is open from November 3rd to November 30th, allowing visitors to enjoy the seasonal Goshuin and local food stalls during this period.

  • *By Car**: Approximately 10 minutes from the Mino IC via Prefectural Road 94.
  • *By Public Transport**: Get off at the 'Oyada Jinja-mae' bus stop on the Gifu Bus Takami Line, followed by an approximately 30-minute walk.

Travel Tips

During the autumn foliage season, various seasonal stalls appear. We highly recommend tasting the local Gohei-mochi, which features a distinctive and refreshing yuzu citrus scent. The seasonal Mino Washi paper Goshuin is also a beautiful and highly collectible souvenir of your trip.
