Oiwai Yume Hanabi Fireworks Display

6 min read

Event Overview

Oiwai Yume Hanabi is a beautiful, community-rooted fireworks display held at Habu Fishing Port in Sanyo-Onoda, Yamaguchi. Since 1997, this event has served a special purpose: celebrating birthdays, weddings, births, longevity, or expressing gratitude and remembrance for loved ones through the medium of fireworks. The 2026 theme, "Going to meet you," will illuminate the clear autumn night sky.

Highlights & How to Enjoy

The biggest draw is the "Message Fireworks," where messages and photos submitted by companies or individuals are projected onto a large screen at the venue. This allows your heartfelt sentiments to be delivered alongside the fireworks blooming in the sky. You can also enjoy a multisensory experience with "Music Fireworks" synchronized to sound and powerful "Shakudama" (large-caliber shells). Since the viewing area is very close to the launch site, you can feel the dynamic energy of the lights spreading across the sea.

Schedule

The event will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026. The program is scheduled from 18:30 to 21:00. Please note that in the event of bad weather, the event may be postponed to the following day.

Venue & Access

The venue is Habu Fishing Port in Sanyo-Onoda, Yamaguchi.

  • *By Train**: Approximately a 15-minute walk from JR Habu Station on the Sanyo Main Line.
  • *Shuttle Bus**: A free shuttle bus runs from the parking area (Sanyo Auto Area) to the nearby Habu Bus Stop (in front of FamilyMart). The return shuttle is scheduled to run from 20:45 to 23:00.

Participation Tips

There are two ways to watch: the free "General Viewing Area" and the pre-registration required "Paid Reserved Seats." Paid seats offer special plans that include message projections or parking perks. If you wish to use paid seats, you must complete your application in advance via the official LINE account. Local food stalls selling items like charcoal-grilled local chicken will be available, but it is highly recommended to arrive early as it gets very crowded.

What to Bring & Etiquette

  • *Clothing**: As this is an autumn night event, it can get chilly. Please bring a jacket or layers to stay comfortable.
  • *Payment**: We recommend preparing cash in advance for food and drinks at the stalls.
  • *Etiquette**: Smoking is prohibited in the paid reserved seat areas. Please use designated smoking areas. Also, please ensure you separate your trash and use the designated disposal areas.
