Event Overview

This traditional festival is held in the Shimohanda district of Handa City, Aichi Prefecture. This area has a long history rooted in the brewing and shipping industries; records from 1739 already mention the existence of festival floats. During the festival, four magnificent floats—Kitagumi Karako-sha, Nakagumi Iwai-hato-guruma, Higashigumi Sanno-sha, and Minamigumi Goo-sha—decorated with exquisite carvings and beautiful tapestries, parade through the historic streets.
