The Gosaitake Shinji is a significant Shinto ritual held at Yasui Konpiragu in Kyoto to mark the beginning of the Autumn Konpira Grand Festival. Held annually on October 1st, this ceremony is a prayer for the successful and smooth progression of the upcoming festivities.
The most striking part of this ritual is the placement of 'Saitake' (sacred bamboo) and Shimenawa (sacot-rope) at three specific Torii gates within the shrine grounds. The bamboo serves as a sacred marker to prevent impurity from entering the holy precinct. It is a highly prestigious ceremony where you can feel the solemn, purifying atmosphere as the sacred space is prepared for autumn.
