Event Overview

Misaki Shrine (Misaki-san) is a highly prestigious Shinto shrine revered as the ancestral deity of the famous Izumo Taisha. The shrine features a stunning collection of historical buildings, many of which are designated as Important Cultural Properties. The architecture was significantly shaped during the Edo period by order of the Shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu. The Misaki Shrine Festival is a traditional event held within this sacred space, which is uniquely structured with two main shrines: Kami-no-miya (Upper Shrine) and Hi-no-miya (Lower Shrine). Misaki Shrine is located along the scenic coast of Shimane Prefecture.

  • From JR Izumo-shi Station: Take the Ichibata Bus (approx. 57 minutes)
  • From Izumo Taisha Bus Terminal: Take the Ichibata Bus (approx. 20 minutes)

The surrounding area is rich with landmarks, such as the historic Onoya Residence and the picturesque Misaki Lighthouse.
