Ryotan-ji, a historic temple known for its exquisite gardens, will host a special nighttime viewing of its scenic garden from November 27 to November 29, 2026. This event offers a rare opportunity to experience the temple's tranquil atmosphere and beautifully illuminated landscapes outside of regular visiting hours.
The main attraction is the illumination of the scenic garden. The play of light and shadow creates a mystical atmosphere quite different from the bright daylight hours. Watch as the seasonal plants and historic temple structures are beautifully highlighted by the light, creating a breathtaking view unique to this time of year. It is a perfect setting to observe the harmony between nature and architectural beauty in the quiet night air.
The event will be held on the following dates:
Venue: Ryotan-ji Temple. Access the temple via the surrounding roads (along Prefectural Route 320). Parking is available on-site, but please drive carefully as it is a nighttime event.
As this is a nighttime event, the surroundings will be dark. Please watch your step carefully while viewing the illuminated garden. Additionally, the local shop may sell unique items such as "Unagi (Eel) Ice Cream" and "Ii Naotora" historical memorabilia; however, please check the shop's operating status in advance.
Since the viewing takes place outdoors and at night, please dress appropriately for the season. As it is late November, we highly recommend bringing warm clothing to protect against the cold.
