Event Overview

The Kukunoumi Fireworks Festival is a grand tradition held around Dokai Bay in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka. Since 1986, this event has captivated hundreds of thousands of visitors annually. The highlight is the unique fusion of jazz music and fireworks, reflecting the local culture of Wakamatsu, a town known for its jazz scene. It is a truly immersive 'fantasy of light and sound.'

Highlights and Tips

Watch massive shells and rapid-fire starmines launch from barges in the center of Dokai Bay. A major highlight is the 400-meter 'Niagara Fireworks' draped across the Wakamatsu Bridge. Because the fireworks launch from the sea, you will feel the immense scale of the display up close. For the best experience, choose a spot where the jazz music is clearly audible to feel the perfect synchronicity between the music and the lights.

The event is scheduled for October 24, 2026. The fireworks display will run for approximately 40 minutes, from 19:00 to 19:40. Enjoy a concentrated, high-impact show under the beautiful autumn night sky.
