This traditional pottery festival is held in the Koishiwara area of Toho Village, Fukuoka Prefecture. Held twice a year in spring and autumn, this event brings together numerous Koishiwara-yaki kilns. You can find a diverse range of ceramics, from practical everyday tableware to highly artistic pieces. Koishiwara-yaki is characterized by its rustic, warm design and is a vital part of Japan's traditional lifestyle and craft culture.

The greatest charm of this festival is the chance to hand-pick freshly fired ceramics directly from the artisans' garden workshops. You can find beautiful bowls, plates, and pieces featuring traditional techniques like 'Tobikanna' (incised patterns) and 'Hakeme' (brushed patterns) while feeling the spirit of the makers. The event will be held for three days from October 10 to October 12, 2026. Since sales hours and displays may vary by kiln, arriving early is highly recommended.

The event takes place throughout the Koishiwara area in Toho Village, Fukuoka.

  • *Access from Station**: Approximately 30 minutes by car from JR Chikugo-Oishi Station (JR Kyudai Main Line) or JR Senda Station (JR Hita Hiko Line).
  • *Shuttle Bus**: A shuttle bus operates from BRT Hiko Station to the Koishiwara Ground.
  • *Parking**: Please use the parking available near the various kilns or around the Michi-no-Eki area.
