Guide
This special festival celebrates the 90th anniversary of the North Breakwater Dome, a designated Hokkaido Heritage site and significant civil engineering monument. Since its completion in 1936, this historic structure has served as the gateway to the north. The event offers a unique opportunity to experience local food culture, music, and history within this iconic setting.
The main attraction is the revival of the legendary 'Large Pot Gourmet Battle.' Guests can savor hearty, traditional dishes like Crab Teppo-jiru (crab soup) and Tara Sanpi-jiru (cod soup) made with fresh seafood from the Wakkanai coast. You can also explore various booths featuring 'Sea-class Gourmet' from various 'Port Oasis' locations across the region.
Music lovers can enjoy the 'WAKKANAI Minato Concert,' featuring special performances by local artists and renowned musicians. As night falls, the dome is beautifully illuminated, creating a magical atmosphere. The event also features historical panel displays and a smartphone-based mystery-solving rally, making it an engaging experience for all ages.
The festival takes place on July 11. The event runs from 12:00 to 21:00.
The venue is the North Breakwater Dome at Wakkanai Port.
