Kibitsu Oto Emaki is a special performance event held at the prestigious Kibitsu Jinja, a historic shrine located in Okayama City. This event is part of a series of celebrations marking the 600th anniversary of the reconstruction of the National Treasure Main Hall and Worship Hall. Set against the solemn atmosphere of Kibitsu Jinja, the performance offers a mystical experience described as a 'visual scroll of sound,' where traditional elements blend seamlessly with modern artistic expression.
Highlights
The centerpiece of the event is the collaboration between artist Yusuke Yabui and the traditional Miyauchi dance. Performing on the special stage directly in front of the National Treasure Main Hall, the show allows you to witness an artistic interplay of sound and movement that breathes life into history. This is more than just a traditional performance; it is a chance to feel a new Japanese aesthetic through a modern lens. Note: In the event of rain, the performance will be postponed to the following day.
Venue & Access
The venue is the area in front of the Main Hall (Honden) of Kibitsu Jinja, located in Kita-ku, Okayama City.
- From JR Okayama Station, take the local line to Kibitsu Station (approx. 30 mins), then walk for about 10 minutes.
- From JR Kurashiki Station, take the local line to Kibitsu Station (approx. 40 mins), then walk for about 10 minutes.
- Approximately 15 minutes by car from either the Okayama Soshi IC or Okayama IC.
Participation Tips
No advanced reservation is required; the event is open to the public. However, as the production is highly specialized, we recommend arriving early to complete your entry. Since the stage is a National Treasure, please maintain a respectful and quiet demeanor to honor the historic surroundings.
