Tadashi Kawamata: KAWAMATA PROJECT DOCUMENT VIDEO 2 is an exhibition held at the Tsumari Archive Center in Niigata Prefecture. The center has a deep connection with the Interlocal Art Network, led by Tadashi Kawamata since 2009. It serves as an archive and library facility, housing materials for new works, art festivals, and community-based art projects.
In this project, documentary footage of the artist's previous works—developed through a 'work-in-progress' style—will be projected in the gymnasium. Additionally, live art creation is scheduled to take place at the artist's studio within the center. This is a rare opportunity to observe the artist's creative process up close.
The main highlight is the chance to experience the creative process of Tadashi Kawamata through video. The documentary footage projected in the gymnasium allows you to trace the evolution of his works.
Furthermore, you can witness live creation at the artist's studio located within the Tsumari Archive Center. This offers a unique way to experience two different timelines: the recorded history through video and the real-time creation in the studio. Visitors are free to view the exhibition during the period. It is a multi-dimensional experience that connects the artist's style with the local community.
