Guide
Experience the thrill of being a warrior at the Geino-no-ma within Kiyosu Castle. This program offers a chance to wear authentic traditional Japanese attire, including samurai armor and elegant Kimono. The armor used is the high-quality 'Okegawa-do' style, meticulously crafted by the renowned Kiyosu Armor Workshop. It is a rare opportunity to feel the weight of history and experience the attire of both samurai warriors and noble women in the atmosphere of the Sengoku period.
The greatest appeal is the tactile experience—feeling the weight and texture of the armor rather than just viewing it in a museum. Donning armor crafted with the expertise of the Kiyosu Armor Workshop will make you feel like a true warrior from the Warring States era. For women and children, beautiful Kimono and Jinbaori (warrior surcoats) are also available to showcase traditional Japanese beauty. Additionally, on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, you can enjoy a Kamishibai (paper play) performance by the Omotenashi Bushotai, making the learning process even more engaging.
This experience is held exclusively on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays when Kiyosu Castle is open. Please note that there are specific dates when the service is unavailable, such as July 4-5 and October 11, or January 1-3. The experience runs from 10:00 to 16:00. However, sessions may be temporarily paused for Kamishibai performances or staff breaks, so we recommend arriving with plenty of time. The final reception is at 15:30.
The venue is the Geino-no-ma inside Kiyosu Castle. Kiyosu Castle is a significant historical site known as the place where Oda Nobunaga took his first steps toward unifying Japan. Nearby, facilities like 'Kiyosu Furusato no Yakata' offer convenient spots for resting. Exploring the surrounding area is easy, and you can enjoy the historical atmosphere of the castle grounds during your visit.
The experience is designed for elementary school students and older, but preschool-aged children may participate with parental consent. While children's sizes are available, please note that availability depends on body type and size. Each session is provided in 30-minute increments. For groups of 5 or more, please contact and consult with the Kiyosu City Tourism Association in advance to make a reservation.
No special items are required to participate. However, wearing comfortable clothing will help you enjoy the experience more easily. Please check the official website for specific details regarding fees and reservations. As the venue is a historic site, please follow all etiquette and rules to help preserve the cultural heritage of Kiyosu Castle.
