The Kakunodate Matsuri no Yama Gyoji is a traditional festival held in Kakunodate, Senboku City, Akita Prefecture. Held annually from September 7th to September 9th, the festival is a prayer for prosperity and good health. Set against the backdrop of beautiful Edo-period samurai residences, the highlight is the procession of massive 'Hikiyama' floats decorated with exquisite warrior and Kabuki dolls.
