Located in Hikone City, Shiga Prefecture, the Kaikoku Kinenkan is a significant facility detailing Japan's opening to the world. Please note that the museum will be closed from December 25, 2026, to December 31, 2026. During this period, entry to the facility and viewing of the exhibits will not be possible. Please adjust your sightseeing route around Hikone Castle accordingly.
While the museum is closed, the surrounding area remains a premier destination. You can still enjoy the historic atmosphere of the National Treasure Hikone Castle and Genkyu-en Garden. We highly recommend using the 'Auris' MR (Mixed Reality) audio guide for an immersive experience.
