Juhachikanon Matsuri is a cherished traditional festival passed down through generations in the Shimoatago area. The most striking feature of this event is its intimate setting. The festival takes place on a street only about 4 meters wide, creating an incredibly high-energy atmosphere within a very confined space. Surrounded by historic architecture, the local culture remains vibrantly alive today.
The true highlight of this festival is the "Ohayashi Yakata" (music platform) set up in the narrow street, accompanied by rhythmic dances. Because the street is so narrow, the distance between the performers and the audience is minimal, allowing you to feel the vibration of the music and the energy of the dancers up close. The traditional streetscape, often featured in media and travel magazines, offers a beautiful, nostalgic view of Japan. It is a rare opportunity to soak in the spirited atmosphere of a special summer night.

The event takes place in the designated area of Shimoatago. Because the street is extremely narrow (approx. 4 meters), please be mindful of local traffic.
