Event Overview

The Itabashi Fireworks Festival is a historic summer tradition held along the Arakawa riverbank in Itabashi, Tokyo. Held simultaneously with an event on the opposite bank in Toda, Saitama, the proximity of the fireworks to the spectators allows you to feel the thunderous boom in your chest. It is a truly immersive way to experience the art of light and sound.

Highlights & What to Expect

The main attraction is the 'Shakugosun-dama,' one of the largest firework shells in Tokyo, creating massive blooms in the sky. You will also see high-impact displays like the 'Super Monster Ball' and the breathtaking 'Great Niagara'—a 700-meter-long waterfall of light that is a signature of this festival. Additionally, the 'Wide Star Mine' program, featuring simultaneous launches from five different locations, creates a spectacular, multi-dimensional light show.

Schedule

The festival is scheduled for August 1, 2026. The fireworks are expected to launch from 19:00 to 20:30. Please note that the event may be canceled due to severe weather. In the event of cancellation, the festival will not be rescheduled for the following day.

Venue & Access

The venue is the Arakawa riverbank near Funado, Itabashi, Tokyo.

  • *Nearest Stations**: Approximately 20–30 minutes on foot from JR Saikyo Line 'Umima-Funado Station,' or from Toei Mita Line 'Nishidai,' 'Hasune,' or 'Takashimadaira' stations.
  • *Bus Access**: Kokusai Kogyo Bus is available from 'Tobu-Nerima' or 'Narimasu' stations on the Tobu Tojo Line.
  • *Important Note**: There are no parking lots or bicycle parking areas near the venue. Additionally, traffic restrictions will be in place during the event; please use public transportation.

Tips for Visitors

For the best experience, we recommend purchasing paid reserved or unreserved seats. Please note that the seating layout is expected to change for 2026. While free viewing areas are available near the baseball fields on the upper Arakawa side (toward Takashimadaira Station), these areas become extremely crowded, so arrive early.

What to Bring & Etiquette

  • *Clothing**: As you will be sitting on the riverbank, wear comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for uneven ground.
  • *Payment & Reservations**: Please check the official website for details regarding paid seating and reservation procedures.
  • *Etiquette**: Mobile phone signals may be weak near the venue. The use or bringing of drones is strictly prohibited. As the riverbank is a sensitive area during emergencies, please follow all local instructions immediately.
